Spain: Experienced lawyers 

In order to strenghten the Privacy & Data Protection unit within our  IT/Commercial department, we are looking for a highly specialised mid-level lawyer (with up to three or four years of experience) interested in developing his/her professional career in this area of law.

The Bird & Bird Privacy and Data Protection practice regularly carries out global and pan-European compliance projects together with domestic commercial and contentious DP matters. Our work ranges from ad hoc advice to full compliance reviews, as well as devising tailored policies and procedures, handling cross-border data flows, dealing with registration, and advising on complaints-handling, offences and prosecutions. We also provide staff training on a wide range of data protection and privacy issues. 

Our contentious DP capabilities include the defence in administrative sanctioning proceedings initiated by the Data Protection Agency and challenge and defence before the relevant Spanish Courts (“Audiencia Nacional”) in the contentious and administrative appeals, complaints before the European Commission and Preliminary References before the European Court of Justice.

We are looking for dynamic and proactive people, with strong communications skills, team spirit and work capacity to participate in the above mentioned projects. 

To become a successful candidate your profile should include:

• a strong academic background: law degree granted by a Spanish University and/or a degree which entitles membership in the Spanish Bar
• high specialization in privacy and data protection:  previous experience in privacy and data protection advice to national and international clients is required.
• excellent qualifications
• strong Spanish and English language skills
• pro-activity, diligence and interest for business development are your assets
