Attorney-at-law Dr. Stephan Waldheim joined the Düsseldorf office of Bird & Bird in 2009. He is member of the German practice group "EU-/Competition" and advises mainly on cartel law issues in the business sectors life science, financial services, intellectual property, energy and utilities, communications and sports. Aside from consultation on e.g. purchase and sales cooperations, subcontracting arrangements and licensing agreements, this comprises also procedural guidance with respect to proceedings before the Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) and the European Commission in Brussels. In addition, Mr Waldheim engages in the field of European state aid law.
Following his yearlong studies in the USA, Mr Waldheim studied law and business administration for lawyers at the Universities of Bayreuth and Münster/Westf. In 2008, he was awarded his doctor’s degree by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Münster/Westf. with a dissertation on the law of the European Union (magna cum laude).
Mr Waldheim has already published a number of newsletters covering up-to-date European, mainly competition law subjects.
He is member of Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V., the German association of leading competition law experts, and the German-Austrian Lawyers association.
