Susanne is a Counsel in our Frankfurt office. She joined Bird & Bird in August 2005. She specializes in Intellectual Property Law, including advising clients on protecting, licensing and enforcing IP rights and strategic advice regarding IP rights. She focuses on trade marks and copyrights and on competition law, especially on the judicial and extrajudicial enforcement of trade marks, domains and competition law.

Furthermore, Susanne has a large expertise in handling litigation matters. Additionally, she is a mediator and therefore supports alternative dispute resolution measures.

Susanne was admitted to the bar in 2001, whereupon she worked as a lawyer in the field of IP for the American commercial law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, before she joined Bird & Bird.

Susanne studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg. Subsequently she worked as research assistant for the Civil, Commercial and Industrial Property law chair, while completing her doctorate in trade mark law.

Susanne is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (“Deutsche Vereinigung für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht (GRUR)”) and of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS).

The JUVE Handbooks German Commercial Law Firms 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 refer to Susanne as one of the frequently recommended lawyers in trademark law and unfair competition law.
