Before joining Bird & Bird in September 2010, Mauro Cannavò worked for three years in the Legal Department of the Italian Banking Association (ABI).

In Bird & Bird, Mauro focuses on the financial services sector including insurance as well as providing advice on general corporate and commercial matters. He regularly advises banks, asset management companies, investment and insurance intermediaries as well as listed companies.

Mauro graduated at the University of Messina in 2003. He is a PhD student in Banking and collaborates with the economics department of LUISS University in Rome. He published papers in top quality journals and some chapters in prestigious legal books.

He was admitted to the Bar in 2006. He is a native Italian speaker and is also fluent in English and Spanish.
