Pieter combines over 20 years of specialised experience with a pragmatic approach at counselling and negotiations, both nationally and internationally.

Pieter is a partner at our office in The Hague and is head of the Tax and Real Estate Groups in The Netherlands, as well as co-head of our International Tax Group.

Pieter’s practice covers a broad range of tax matters, both within The Netherlands and internationally. He regularly advises on hybrid instruments, corporate finance transactions, real estate funds and investment and mergers. He has substantial experience with real estate transactions, including transfer tax issues and infrastructure as well as tax planning and structuring of intellectual property.

Pieter’s practice also comprises a substantial number of South African clients, and he visits the country regularly. Pieter is a capable negotiator and has an excellent track record in negotiating tax rulings.

He has written and spoken widely on the areas of taxation, including international tax. Pieter is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers and several other professional interest groups such as the International Fiscal Association. He joined us in 2002 from Arthur Andersen, where he was an associated partner leading the Rotterdam Real Estate Practice.
