Roelien is a partner in the Commercial Group in The Hague.

Roelien focuses on commercial matters in the information technology (IT) and other technology-based industries. She is a specialist in the drafting and negotiation of IT contracts, outsourcing, software exploitation and e-business. Roelien has a specific expertise in the field of (online) business-to-consumer (B2C) matters and she advises clients on all aspects of trading practices, marketing and advertising.

She also advises on commercial contracts covering distribution, sales, agency, cooperation and procurement arrangements, acting for suppliers and customers. Additionally, she represents clients in legal proceedings in her specialty areas. 

Roelien regularly speaks at internal and external seminars and courses. She is a visiting lecturer at Leiden University. She regularly contributes to leading legal journals.

She is a member of various professional associations in the field of IT and commercial law, including ITechlaw, the Netherlands Association for Information Technology and Law (NVVIR), the Netherlands Association of Computer Lawyers (VIRA) and the Netherlands Association for Distribution, Franchising and Agency Law (DFA).

Roelien graduated from Leiden University and subsequently completed an LL.M degree at University College London. She also holds a postgraduate cum laude degree in information technology law.
