Recruitment of lawyers (advocaten), civil law notaries and tax consultants
We offer all our lawyers, civil law notaries and tax consultants a broad-based training in a fast-moving and challenging environment. The work we do is both high quality and highly demanding. Our clients work at the cutting edge of their industry sectors and we expect our lawyers to think creatively in response to the challenges that this brings.
Our lawyers take on responsibility from day one and enjoy varied and challenging work for industry-shaping clients. If you become a lawyer with us, you will be given the chance to excel. We take pride in the knowledge that our environment is genuinely friendly and stimulating.
We recognise that our lawyers are our most important asset and that is why we recruit strong graduates capable of developing expert legal skills and commercial acumen. A certain level of intelligence and common sense is a prerequisite but more importantly we look for well-rounded individuals who will fit in well.
Our lawyers are outgoing, articulate team-players, willing to work in a flexible way and genuinely interested in progressing their careers. We aim to recruit people who will stay with the firm and therefore seek candidates who have a long-term interest in Bird & Bird and the sectors and areas of legal practice on which we focus.

Application procedure
Applications can be made at any time. As soon as we have received your application, our selection committee will review your letter. If you pass the first selection process, you will be invited for a first interview conducted by two partners or associates from the practice group you are interested in. This first interview is more of a general interview to get to know you better. We will test your legal skills but are also interested in your personal interests, opinions and experiences.
If appropriate, a second interview will follow in which we will test your legal knowledge and skills. Afterwards you will also have the opportunity to meet other lawyers in our office during a lunch meeting. After this second interview a decision will be made whether or not to make an offer to you. We aim to complete the application procedure within one month after receipt of your application.
