Michael is a highly regarded and frequently recommended lawyer in the fields of media, technology and communications, with particular expertise in regulatory and public law.

Michael is a partner in our office in Hamburg.  He is a member of the Media Sector Group and belongs to the Public Sector Practice Group as well.

Michael advises clients within the media sector (broadcasters, publishers and content providers) in the entire range of media law. The focus of Michael’s work is regulatory and public media law, with a particular focus on advising on all aspects of broadcasting, online, youth protection, advertising, gambling or gaming law. His practice also covers other regulated industries including postal and transportation services.

Michael also represents his clients in courts and in proceedings before regulatory authorities and authorities entitled to impose penalty fines on a regular basis. In this respect, he has extensive experience in conducting proceedings, in particular proceedings dealing with administrative law and constitutional law. Michael has successfully supported his clients throughout fundamental proceedings before the Federal Administrative Court or the Federal Constitutional Court.

After graduating from the German School of Paris, Michael studied law at the universities of Göttingen and Vienna. He completed his doctorate on national broadcasting and European competition law. Before joining us in 2011, he worked for more than six years for international law firm Hogan Lovells.

Michael has published articles and lectured in the fields of media, regulation law and gambling. He is a lecturer at the Hamburg Media School.
