Sara is an expert in life sciences who has “won renown for her sterling work in diverse areas including domain names and anti-counterfeiting.”
Sara is a partner and head of the Intellectual Property Practice Group and Life Sciences Sector Group in Stockholm.
Sara specialises in intellectual property law with a particular focus on trademarks, designs, counterfeits, domain names and marketing law. She advises on a broad range of intellectual property matters, both contentious and non-contentious. Sara has particular experience in providing legal advice to clients within the life sciences sector including negotiating and drafting various commercial contracts, advising and litigating IP and advising on regulatory issues.
Before joining Bird & Bird in 2002, Sara worked as a trainee/associate at a law firm and served as an assistant judge at the District Court of Solna. Sara’s experience was strengthened through her secondment to the medical device company Phadia AB in 2007-2008.
Sara wrote “Supplementary Protection Certificate” which was published by The Institute of Intellectual Property Law and Marketing Law and she is one of the authors of the “Kluwer Guide to EU Pharmaceutical Regulatory Law”. She is a regular speaker on intellectual property issues and has been engaged as a speaker and mentor by the University of Stockholm for specialised intellectual property law courses, since 2008.
Sara is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), serves on the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA), International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), Swedish Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (SFIR) and the Swedish Anti-Counterfeiting Group (SACG).
