Walo joined Bird & Bird in Stockholm 1 December 2003, as a consultant and member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group.
Walo started his legal career by spending 13 years in the Swedish Courts, where he became Associate Judge in the Stockholm Court of Appeal. Thereafter he served as legal counsel with the Standing Committee of Civil Law in the Swedish Parliament (1985), secretary to the Swedish Committee for Revision of the Swedish Copyright Law (1985-1990), secretary to the National Committee on Utility Models (1990-1991), and Managing Director of the Swedish Publishers' Association (1991-1993). In 1993 Walo joined Ericsson Corporate Legal Function, where he became Vice President and Senior Legal Adviser for IPR, as well as Head of the Corporate IPR Unit and Head of the Corporate Trademark and Design Department.
In dealing with IPRs, Walo has covered protection and enforcement of IPRs as well as managing IPR infringement matters, with emphasis on patent infringement cases in Europe (especially France, Germany, Sweden and the UK), Japan and the USA.
