Before taking up the more strategic role of CEO in 1996, David acted for some of the largest telecoms operators in the UK and Europe.

David is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most experienced lawyers in the Communications sector, undertaking a wide range of work from privatisation, leasing of networks, mergers and acquisitions and structural changes in the industry.

In 1996, he became the firm’s Chief Executive Officer and has led the firm through an intense period of international expansion. He has also pioneered several innovations in client service, ranging from enhanced case and project management tools to improved cross-border reporting.

In all of these developments, David has propounded the idea of Bird & Bird being organised around our clients.
