Michael is a dedicated life science patent attorney with a strong focus on clients’ business and international strategies.
Michael is a German and European patent, trademark and design attorney based in our Munich office.
His portfolio extends across a wide range of technological areas, such as medical chemistry, pharmaceutical products, bio- and food technology. Michael has also assisted clients in cases relating to medical devices and biogas plants.
Michael provides advice in all areas of patent and utility model law. He has a strong focus on litigeous cases and regularly represents clients before the European and German patent office, the German Federal Patent court and the Federal Supreme court. He is regularly involved in infringement proceedings. His expertise also includes the co-ordination of multi-juridictional patent cases.
Michael has a technical background in the areas of biochemistry, chemistry and molecular biology and holds a Ph.D. in virology. Before joining us in 2006, Michael spent five years as an in-house patent attorney in a bio-pharmaceutical company which gave him a significant insight and understanding of the needs of industry in the area of intellectual property. He got his patent attorney training in a Munich-based patent attorney’s firm.
Michael has also worked several years as a group leader at the Max-Planck-Institute of Biochemistry. He has lectured on many occasions at conferences as a scientist and as a patent attorney and has published extensively.
