International law firm Bird & Bird has advised Aleri Group Inc. ("Aleri") on the sale of the business and assets of Aleri Global Banking (“AGB”), the wholesale banking division of Aleri Inc., including the sale of Aleri Limited, its UK subsidiary. The sale, which was for an undisclosed amount, completed in May 2008.
The AGB sale is the first transaction on which Bird & Bird has been instructed by Aleri, and derives from Aleri's decision to exclusively focus on the provision of complex event processing technology for financial institutions and beyond.
Aleri jointly instructed Bird & Bird, whose team was led by Mark Pinder, partner and joint head of the international corporate practice group, assisted by Corporate Tax Partner Mathew Oliver, Employment Partner Ian Hunter and Associates Richard Catling, Caroline Brown and Emily Bennett, and Goodwin Procter LLP in the United States.
Bird & Bird’s International Corporate Group has over 100 lawyers specialising in M&A, takeovers and IPOs, including AIM listings, private equity and governance – as well as key support areas such as acquisition and debt financing, employee benefits and tax.
