Benoit has an excellent reputation as a strategical and tactical lawyer capable of integrating the relevant legal, business and human elements.

Benoit is a partner in our Brussels office. He has exceptional expertise in counseling clients on issues that require the coordination and integration of a variety of legal solutions, such as  intellectual property (IP), information technology, media and telecommunications issues. He advises on non contentious and contentious matters in front of arbitral tribunals and both national and EU courts.

Benoit has extensive know-how in drafting and negotiating complex IP and information and communications technology (ICT) contracts, as well as dealing with related disputes, including public procurement and distribution. He also has extensive litigation expertise especially in the areas of contract law (in particular ICT contracts and IP licensing), copyright, trademarks, design law, unfair trade practice and media law.

Benoit also has a successful background in conducting matters with the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and in lobbying public authorities in the context of CJEU procedures and legislative processes.

Benoit writes and speaks widely on IP/ICT related subjects. He is a guest lecturer at the Katholieke Universiteit Brussel on contracts and IP/IT, and at the University of Lyon II (France) on various IP and media subjects. He acts as a substitute commercial judge and mediator/arbitrator at the World Intellectual Property Office and gives master classes on outsourcing contracts.

Benoit studied law at the University of Brussels. He also holds a DAAD diploma from the University of Tübingen and a LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. He has been a member of the Brussels bar since 1984. He speaks French, English, Dutch and German.
