Helen qualified into Bird & Bird’s Intellectual Property Group in September 2004. 

Helen has advised on a range of intellectual property matters for clients in a number of industry sectors including telecommunications, media, pharmaceutical, IT and Finance.  She specialises in contentious matters, and has particular experience in pan-European and multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. Helen has acted in a number of reported patent actions including Smith International v Halliburton Energy Services Inc.; Nokia Corporation v InterDigital Technology Corporation; European Central Bank v Document Security Systems Inc. and Gemstar-TV Guide v Virgin Media Limited. Helen also regularly advises on disputes relating to the ownership of copyright and database rights and on matters involving breach of confidence.

Helen is a member of the International Bar Association and a founding committee member and Chair of In Focus: The Bird & Bird Associate Lecture Series.

Helen holds an LLB (Hons) from the University College London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from Bristol University.
