Javier is a profoundly knowledgeable managing partner and one of Spain’s leading IT lawyers.

Javier is the managing partner of our Madrid office and the head of the Commercial, Dispute Resolution and Information Technology (IT) groups in Spain.

Javier has been at the forefront of reaching settlement agreements in some of the most significant disputes in the IT consultancy and media sectors in Spain. He also has extensive experience in enterprise resource planning  implementation dispute resolution.

He was one of the first lawyers to represent a private sector data controller during an inspection and the subsequent proceedings by the Data Protection Agency. Since then, Javier has advised and represented a large number of local and international companies and is well-known for his expertise regarding international data transfer, outsourcing transactions and data protection review programs.

Javier is an arbitrator at the information and communication technologies department of the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid. He is also a CEDR accredited mediator and has advised on a number of alternative dispute resolution cases for clients.  In February 2013 Javier was admitted to the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals.

Before joining us, Javier was the head of the IT and Communications at Linklaters, and he had previously been the head of Technology and Data Protection team at Spanish firm Cuatrecasas, and a lawyer at the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology).

Javier lectures extensively on technology law at Spanish universities. His publications include numerous articles and reports relating to IT Law and data protection issues. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian.
