Our Hong Kong office was established in 1995 to meet the growing demand of our international clients wanting to undertake business in China and more widely throughout Asia. This was followed by our offices in Beijing in 2004, Shanghai in 2009, and Shenzhen in 2022. Our China offices operate as a collaborative integrated practice, and assists clients with their complex business activities throughout the broader China region, as well as advising Chinese state-owned and private companies on their outbound investment opportunities.
Today, we have over 100 legal specialists in the Greater China region and operate as a collaborative and integrated practice. We assist clients in their complex business activities in mainland China with expert legal advice in Intellectual Property, Corporate, Commercial, Capital Markets, Dispute Resolution, Privacy & Data Protection, Franchising, Outsourcing, Employment, Private Equity & Venture Capital and Real Estate.
Through our formal association with a prominent local Chinese law firm, Lawjay Partners, we are able to assist our clients with contentious matters in Mainland China by litigating in the Chinese Courts. We also have an established wholly owned trademark agency in Beijing, Bird & Bird IP (Beijing) Co. Ltd., which enables us to conduct trademark and copyright matters directly for our clients.
In November 2017, we established a co-operation agreement with AllBright Law Offices (“AllBright”). This agreement primarily sees us support AllBright's domestic Chinese clients with their international expansion ambitions, providing these companies with access to our 32 offices in 22 countries.
