Jarste Akkermann is member of our Intellectual Property Practice Group, advising European and US-American clients in the fields of Unfair Competition and Intellectual Property Law. She focuses on Litigation and Arbitration as well as extra-judicial advice. Jarste is member of our sector group Life Sciences and mainly advices clients of the pharmaceutical, medical devices and food industry. She is consigned to regulatory legal issues on a big scale. 

Jarste was admitted to the Bar at the beginning of 2006. Prior to joining Bird & Bird in July 2008, she worked for the international law firm Mayer Brown LLP. Jarste studied law from 1997 to 2003 at the universities of Jena, Port Elizabeth (South Africa) and Münster. She completed her Master of Laws of Taxation (LL.M.) at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in 2003. During her legal clerkship from 2003 to 2005 she worked for Mönig, Krollzig und Partner in Münster, the Police Academy in Hiltrup and Henkel KGaA in Düsseldorf.

Jarste speaks German (native), English and French. She is a member of the German Intellectual Property and Copyright Association (GRUR).
