I am an Associate in our Intellectual Property Group in London, with a particular focus on the life sciences, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors.
I assist clients with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including patents, trade marks, plant breeder's rights, and breach of confidence. I also work with clients in the life sciences, food, pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare sectors on a range of other matters including regulatory compliance, licensing and distribution agreements.
I have a strong scientific background, allowing me to fully understand the challenges faced by science and innovation-driven businesses. I have a PhD in chemistry and prior to joining our firm, I worked as a research scientist in leading universities in Australia and the UK, as well as a top 10 global pharmaceutical company. I have also worked as a science and innovation consultant across the food, beverage and consumer goods sectors.
This background allows me to have a particular focus on providing technical input into matters which have a substantial scientific component. I work with my colleagues in the IP practice to ensure that we are able to rapidly understand the technical context of a matter and deliver the highest quality legal advice. For example, I have analysed complex pharmaceutical patents and manufacturing processes to provide freedom to operate advice and worked on a spectrum of patent re-examination matters for major pharmaceutical companies.
