Our French office is providing pro bono legal assistance to the Urgent Identity Africa Fund, the purpose of which is to address the lack of civil identity on the African continent, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, where 95 million children under the age of 5 were not registered at birth. When these children get older, they will not be able to access healthcare, secondary education and basic financial services without a legal existence. These children cannot become either voters or eligible for basic rights.
On 2 December 2021, a ceremony was organised in Togo, for the delivery of birth certificates to 2,941 pupils without identity in the public primary schools of the Commune des Lacs 1 in the town of Aného. We are delighted and proud to support UIA to help these children acquire citizenship.
We assist the Association Les Musiciens de la Prée, specialises in the performing arts sector (music), and its other subsidiaries associations (Orchestre de l'Alliance in the Yvelines and in Paris, Génération Mozart in Champagne and in Paris, Escapades Musicales on the Bassin d'Arcachon), in the drafting of new statutes to ensure the best governance and the total transparency of these structures.
