The Dutch Disputes Committee Copyright Contract law have passed a judgment in the favour of bestselling Dutch authors, regarding additional fair compensation. The authors of Soof, which was a recent hit at the box office, argued for additional fair compensation under the Dutch Copyright Contract Act. Additionally, the Committee considered whether the full net proceeds of a work should be taken in account when deciding whether an author's compensation is disproportionate or not. The recent decision in this case is likely to encourage authors to carefully review any contracts relating to bestsellers.
