Bird & Bird has advised long-standing client, Netherlands-based navigation and mapping company TomTom N.V. on its acquisition of Autonomos GmbH, to add more autonomous driving technology to its platform. Autonomos is a Berlin technology start-up that has worked in R&D consultancy for various self-driving projects.
This acquisition will help TomTom to bring its product line for autonomous driving applications to the next level and consolidate map-based products such as its HD map, RoadDNA localisation technology, as well as its navigation, traffic and other cloud services.
This is a significant strategic deal for the International Corporate Group given its strong focus on the Technology & Communications and Automotive industries. It is also another excellent example of the firm’s continuous support of innovation, especially where data, IP and technology play a key role.
TomTom was advised by the following Bird & Bird lawyers from the Munich office: partner Stefan Münch (lead) and counsel Stephan Kübler (both Corporate and M&A), partners Alexander Duisberg, Henriette Picot (both Commercial), partner Ralph Panzer (Employment), and associate Sebastian Wolf (IP).
