Bird & Bird strengthens Finance Services Sector Group in France with new partner

International law firm Bird & Bird today appoints Nicolas Mordaunt-Crook as a new partner in its international Financial Services Sector Group in Paris.

Nicolas, a seasoned lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in banking and financial law, provides clients with expert guidance on banking, investment, fund management, and insurance services matters. Advising from both a regulatory and transactional standpoint, Nicolas has extensive knowledge of laws that apply to various banking and financial activities, both in France and internationally, as well as of the procedures for obtaining relevant permissions or licences.

Nicolas’ appointment not only strengthens the Financial Services Sector Group offering in France, but also internationally as the firm continues to expand its services and support its clients in navigating the increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

He joins Bird & Bird from PwC Société d’Avocats where he led the Financial Services Legal & Regulatory practice. He is accompanied by associate Raphaël Manac’h.

Stefano Febbi and Jonathan Emmanuel, co-heads of Bird & Bird’s international Financial Services Sector Group, said: “Nicolas’ proven track record of working in complex financial transactions and regulatory matters, coupled with his deep connections within the French and international financial services market, substantially enhances our robust capabilities in delivering cross-border regulatory advice. Nicolas’ ability to navigate both local and international regulatory environments will be a major asset as we continue to grow our Financial Services Sector Group.”

Alexandre Vuchot and Emmanuelle Porte, co-heads of Bird & Bird France, comment: “Nicolas’ expertise will not only significantly bolster our financial services capabilities in the buoyant Paris market, but also build upon synergies with our international Financial Services Sector Group. His collaborative approach perfectly aligns with Bird & Bird's collegiate culture, and his ability to build strong relationships with clients is a testament to his commitment to excellence. We wish him a warm welcome to the firm.”

Nicolas adds: “There are compelling reasons to join Bird & Bird’s talented team in Paris - not least the exciting opportunity to be supported by an international brand with a strong presence in the IT and technology space. I very much look forward to working across the international Bird & Bird network, and continuing to support clients on their banking and financial regulatory needs.”
