Aleksandra Widziewicz

As an Of Counsel in the Finance & Financial Regulation team in Warsaw, I specialise in banking and insurance matters, including compliance and corporate governance, as well as restructuring.

I have been advising clients since 1992, working at leading financial institutions, such as Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA, Deutsche Bank Group, BRE Bank SA, mBank and insurance companies, as well as at international consulting firms.

I worked for the Polish Post Group from 2012-15, where I was appointed as President of the Postal Mutual Insurance Company, Vice President of Postal Life Insurance Company SA, and acted as a Supervisory Board member of the Postal Financial Services Agency. Carrying out a restructuring process, I helped achieve the Group's strategic goals in postal insurance. I was also involved in obtaining the Financial Supervision Authority's licence for the newly established Postal Life Insurance Company. In other areas, I supervise strategic projects, business control, insurance product development, claims, internal audit, compliance, corporate governance, legal and HR.

I also worked for an innovative banking and wealth management project in FinTech, where I was Chief Compliance Officer, MLRO and General Counsel. There I was involved in business planning, as well as preparing processes and procedures, the negotiation of key outsourcing agreements, and the application for the Financial Supervision Authority's licence for the newly established bank. I took charge of the legal, regulatory compliance (including MiFID, FATCA/CRS), anti-money laundering and corporate governance functions.

In addition, I have adjudicated at the Courts of Arbitration at the Polish Banks Association and the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

I have been recognised by The Polish Bank Association for my contribution to the development of banking practice in Poland.
