Alessandro Sciarra

I'm a Rome-based European Union and Italian Trademark Attorney working in the Intellectual Property department.

With almost 20 years of experience in intellectual property matters, my practice focuses on trademark filing and prosecution, trademark and domain name portfolio management, and UDRP and ADR proceedings for retrieving domain names.

Before joining Bird & Bird in 2015, I was the head of the domain name department in another IP Firm, where I also handled the trademark portfolios of important Italian entities in the field of food, media and entertainment, fashion and air transport.

Through the years I have developed extensive experience in advising Italian consortia on the protection of the 'made in Italy' with a special focus on the recognition and protection of geographical indications. I assist clients by providing strategic advice in order to find tailored solutions that get the most from the diversified tools for protection and enforcement that are available across different jurisdictions. I am constantly engaged in monitoring and influencing developments in the area of geographical indications.
