About Me

I am a VAT specialist with vast experience working for different clients across multiple countries, sectors and practice groups. I joined Bird & Bird as Head of VAT Netherlands in 2022. I work from our offices in The Hague and Amsterdam.

I help our clients managing VAT correctly throughout their business. VAT is an easy, efficient and popular revenue generator for governments globally. For businesses, however, VAT may be complex due to a vast set of rules, exceptions and interpretation differences between countries.

I bring in-depth knowledge of VAT law and how VAT law impacts operational processes within businesses. Our clients like to work with me because I apply this knowledge pragmatically with a view to solve issues and move forward. I help our clients in different ways, including traditional VAT advice, managing the in-house VAT function with KPI's, policies and controls, as well as VAT dispute resolution. I have been working for clients ranging from promising start-ups to industry leading corporates.

Specializing in VAT gives me the opportunity to work with people from different generations, backgrounds and cultures, whilst helping them or their business to progress. For me personally this makes real impact.

Today, I am also a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB) and an author for the Dutch tax publisher NLFiscaal. Before joining Bird & Bird in 2022, I worked with KPMG Meijburg & Co for 15 years and I was a member of KPMG's Global Indirect Tax Leadership Team during my last 3 years.
