As a member of our Intellectual Property Practice Group in Dusseldorf, I provide advice to our domestic and international clients on all areas of IP, with a specific focus on patent litigation at German courts but also at the UPC, know-how protection and unfair competition law.
I regularly advise our clients in the field of mechanics, medical devices, software and pharmaceuticals. My daily work thus concentrates on comprehensive litigation and enforcement related advice in patent/utility model, SPC and trade secret matters. This includes conducting preliminary injunction and main proceedings, especially in multi-jurisdictional disputes. In this context I am also regularly involved in UPC proceedings.
Further, clients seek my advice on strategic pre- and post-litigation topics to minimise the impact of litigation on their core business. This involves analysing past litigations and current structures in order to optimise the organisation and work processes, thereby mitigating commercial risks in future litigations.
I also work closely with patent attorneys in patent/utility model grant proceedings, e.g. when drafting claims, in order to optimise our client's scope of protection right from the start.
Outside my client work, I am actively engaged in academic publishing in the patent/know-how sector. In this regard my focus is on specific procedural challenges in (multi-jurisdictional) IP litigation. I contribute to the discussion by regularly publishing scientific articles as well as through my participation in relevant conferences, where I also regularly act as a speaker.
