Dr. Ole Brühl

As Counsel in our international Corporate Practice Group in Hamburg, I advise our clients on Corporate law and M&A transactions, both national and cross-border, and provide support to companies on their investment abroad.

As well as advising on M&A, I provide private equity and venture capital transaction support, where I am regularly involved in start-up advisory. I also provide German companies with corporate housekeeping support and advice on general corporate law issues.

Another focus of my practice is on supporting foreign companies investing in Germany as well as German companies looking to expand abroad, with a particular focus on Chinese in and outbound investment. My experience with China goes back to me working as an M&A associate at an international law firm, where I spent 2006 and 2007 establishing its Chinese office in Shanghai. Over the years, I have acted on a great number of various investment deals by Chinese companies in Germany as well as by German companies investing in China. I regularly visit China on business and work closely with my colleagues from our firm's Chinese offices. I publish articles on German investment in China as well as Chinese investment in Germany.

A trusted advisor to a number of domestic and international companies, my clients include well-known media and manufacturing companies as well as those active in the technology and communications sector.

• Advised one of Germany's leading management-owned (independent) agency groups on the sale of a significant minority stake in the company to the world's largest communications services group.
• Advised Chinese listed company on their first investment outside China by acquiring a significant stake in a European top (luxury) yacht manufacturer, which included the set-up of a JV in China.
• Advised German management-owned software/retail company on their add-on acquisition of a German sensor manufacturer.
• Advised German/US-management owned film producer company based in Germany and USA on the buy-out of their shareholder, one of Germany's largest publishing groups.
