Katrina Baxter

I am a mid-level associate in our Commercial Group in London, assisting clients in various industries on a range of technology matters from advising on cloud-based service arrangements to complex technology outsourcings.

I have broad experience advising clients on a variety of technology contracts, including SaaS agreements, software licences, data licences and general services agreements. I have also worked on large and complex IT projects, acting for both suppliers and customers, with a particular focus on strategic and transformational projects, including outsourcing arrangements for clients in the tech, retail and financial services sectors.

In addition, I regularly prepare template documentation for our clients and have assisted in creating playbooks used to negotiate such agreements. In terms of project management, I frequently assist our Corporate department with large due diligence exercises and have lead on sizeable commercial projects, including managing bespoke amendments to vendor contracts for compliance with the EBA outsourcing guidelines.

Whilst at Bird & Bird I have been on full-time secondments to two large international banks and supported a global software company and the largest fast-food chain in the world on a virtual secondment basis working on all things tech related. As such, I fully appreciate the importance of delivering pragmatic and practical advice in tune with our client's commercial drivers.

I have a particular keen interest in data and disruptive technologies, and frequently work with our specialists in the IP team on such matters.

I trained with Bird & Bird in 2017 and qualified in 2019.
