I am an Associate in our London Intellectual Property team, specialising in brand management.
I have experience in dealing with trade mark, design and copyright matters – contentious and non-contentious. I have advised clients with small and large IP portfolios; from start-up businesses to household names across all sectors, including gaming, retail, food and beverages, finance and pharmaceuticals.
My day to day includes advising on all aspects of brand protection; working collaboratively with clients to understand their business and brand desires, and to offer a commercial and practical approach when considering next steps. This includes preparing multi-jurisdictional brand filing strategies; clearance searches for new brands or brand expansions; enforcement of existing rights within the UK and internationally, including proceedings before the IP Registries (opposition, invalidation and revocation); settlement negotiations, and preparing undertakings, settlement and co-existence agreements. I also have experience with various other commercial Intellectual Property matters such as assignments, license agreements, and ambassador agreements.
Before joining Bird & Bird I worked at a firm in London specialising in Intellectual Property matters. I worked on pre-action infringement matters in the UK, with a particular focus on look-a-likes and dupe products within the FMCG and fashion industries. This is becoming increasingly important as more look-a-like products appear in the market, targeting both leading brands and start up businesses.
