Matias Vikström

I am a senior associate in the Tax group at Bird & Bird in Helsinki, where I work with a range of domestic and international clients to help them with their tax-related issues.

I joined the firm at the beginning of 2020 after completing my Master of Laws degree. As a tax attorney, I have experience working with various clients, from large multinational companies to investment funds and wealthy individuals. My expertise lies in advising on Finnish income tax (for both corporations and individuals), value-added tax (VAT), and transfer tax, as well as Finnish real estate tax and excise duties. My goal is to provide top-notch advice that is both tax-efficient and takes the client's business case into account. I specialize in advising clients in the construction, real estate, and M&A fields.

I enjoy working with our highly skilled tax practice both domestically and internationally, and I challenge myself daily with various tax issues. My specialization in tax law allows me to solve intriguing and international legal problems, as well as find solutions that add high value to our clients. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in the nature of northern Finland and taking an interest in various historical topics, particularly the late antiquity.

I am fluent in both Finnish and English.
