Matthieu de Calbiac

A member of the Paris Bar since 2022 and an associate in Bird & Bird's Competition & EU Law team in Paris, I specialise in French and EU competition law (cartels, abuse of dominance, merger control) and act as counsel and litigator before the competition authorities and the commercial courts.

I have gained particular experience in antitrust litigation and have been involved in a number of high-profile cases, in particular concerning the application of the presumption of parental liability, abuse of dominance and state aid.

I also have experience in advising clients on their distribution networks and all issues relating to vertical restraints.

I am used to representing the interests of a wide range of clients, including listed and state-owned companies, international groups and SMEs.

Before joining the team at Bird & Bird in Paris, I worked for three years as a competition associate at a French boutique law firm.

I speak French and English.
