Osvaldo Lombardi

I was one of the founders of the Rome office of Bird & Bird in 2005. I assist Italian and international companies in litigation proceedings (courts and arbitrations) and I also advise clients on non-judicial commercial and contractual matters.

As an Of Counsel, I am in charge of the litigation team in our Rome office, where my areas of expertise are in civil and commercial litigation proceedings.

In commercial litigation I have in-depth experience in cases involving unfair competition and the private enforcement of antitrust law, as well as in contractual issues and product liability cases.

In addition to litigations matters, I regularly advise on commercial matters for clients active in many industries, including communications and IT companies, on regulatory issues.

In the telecommunications market, I have assisted several operators before the Italian Communications Authority and the Italian Antitrust Authority. I have also assisted many companies in obtaining their authorisations to operate in Italy in compliance with the Italian telecomunications regulations.

I also advise Italian and foreign companies that are active in other industries (including construction, pharma, aviation, sport, tourism, gambling, automotive) on commercial matters like the negotiation of contracts with their partners.

• Assisted a communications operator in competition litigation cases (including private enforcement of antitrust law) worth millions of Euros in damages.
• Assisted companies active in the chemical industry in competition litigation cases for the recovery of damages subsequent to the violation of antitrust laws.
• Assisted a main aircraft producer in a high-profile product liability case before the Italian courts, also concerning aviation regulation profiles.
• Assisted a Swiss Sport Federation in a high-profile case concerning anti-doping regulation and competition issues in the pharmaceutical market.
• Assisted a company active in satellite communications in the maritime sector in a contractual and competition case before the Italian courts.
• Assisted a pharmaceutical company in contractual relationships with public hospitals and public bodies in connection with the performance of procurement contracts.
• Assisted a company active in the tourism sector in negotiations of contracts with business partners in connection with hotel structures.
