I am a partner and the head of our Privacy and Data Protection group in Helsinki, where I advise our local and international clients on complex privacy and data issues.
As a leading European expert on data regulation and protection, my practice offers detailed advice on a range of matters including the development of new products and services, the review and negotiation of contracts, and the drafting of policies and review of campaigns. I also advise our clients on Finnish and international GDPR and data law projects, including the implementation of global data management strategies, international data transfers and local data protection compliance.
Taking an innovative approach to my practice, I regularly develop new data protection-specific services for our clients, such as the DPO back up and support service, and joint training programmes with legal and IT experts.
Before joining our firm in 2016, I was a senior legal counsel at Microsoft and Nokia in global privacy roles, heading the Microsoft Mobile privacy programme, among others. This senior in-house experience, lasting over eight years, has provided me with unique, insider knowledge of our clients' needs, and included advising on all matters of privacy compliance, with privacy impact assessments, guideline drafting as well as incident handling.
I have severed on various roles for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), among others on the European advisory board, KnowledgeNet chair and on the Board of Attorneys at the IAPP. In addition, I am on the steering board of the Cambridge Privacy Forum, a conference for senior privacy professionals. I am a docent of Information Law at two universities, and contribute to privacy publications on data protection issues. I am the first and still one of the few Finnish legal practitioners to have been accepted as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) by the IAPP.
I am fluent in English, German and Finnish and have a good command of French.
