Adtech Accelerated: ICO draft guidance on the "cookie" rules - how it compares with the EDPB's position & next steps
Last November, the EDPB issued its final guidelines on the technical scope of Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive which regulates the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies. In the first of our webinars in this series, we explored the implications of those guidelines.
We now see the UK’s ICO adopting similar positions in its recent draft guidance covering the scope of PECR. On Tuesday 4 February our experts ran a webinar where they discussed the positions taken by the ICO and how they compare to the EDPB’s stance. They also considered the interplay between the ICO’s draft guidance and the UK’s draft Data Use and Access Bill.
