Blockchain Handbook: Overview and idea of the Blockchain Handbook

Since blockchain’s inception, Bird & Bird has been at the forefront of advising clients globally on the regulatory, legal, and commercial aspects of their blockchain initiatives.

With a long-standing history of advising at the intersection of technology and finance, our Finance & Financial Regulation team has seamlessly integrated blockchain into their expertise, closely following its evolution from the start.

Our track record in blockchain speaks for itself. In 2013, we pioneered advising on cryptocurrency exchange licensing. Since then, we've kept pace with the rapid growth of disruptive DLT technologies, including several Initial Token Offerings (ICOs) advisories in 2016.

As mobile payments surged in 2018, Bird & Bird seized the opportunity to lecture, publish, and provide global expertise on Smart Contracts, Blockchain, and Decentralised Exchange Platforms (DEX).

Our regulatory expertise goes beyond leading European regulations like MiCAR. We address broader challenges, including the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with blockchain, sustainability considerations (ESG), and crypto asset classification.

Today, we are proud to contribute our extensive experience and deep sector knowledge to the second edition of the Wolters Kluwer Handbook of Blockchain Law, continuing the work we began with our contribution to the first edition in 2020.

Michael and Trystan, experts from our Finance & Financial Regulation team, caught up recently to discuss the book.
