Offshore Wind - Speedy Bill passed by the Dutch Senate

This week, the Dutch Senate passed the Bill holding an Amendment of the Dutch Electricity Act (Timely Realisation Target Sustainable Energy Agreement for Sustainable Growth). This Bill contains essential statutory provisions for the roll out of offshore wind energy in The Netherlands. With the adoption of this Bill, the last barrier to the tender for offshore wind in the Netherlands has been removed.

Assuming that the Amended Act will enter into force on 1st April 2016, the first tender for the permit and subsidy for offshore wind for the sites Borssele I and II is also expected to open in April (as set out in our article dated 5 February 2016, view here).

For more information on how to take part in the tenders, please see: Dutch Offshore Wind Tenders in Five Steps.
