I am a partner and the head of our Privacy and Data Protection group in Helsinki, where I advise our local and international clients on complex privacy and data issues.

Counsel Tobias Bräutigam, based in our Helsinki office, has been accepted as an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP). Currently, he is the only lawyer in Finland who has received that designation by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

The FIP designation is for individuals with considerable achievements and contributions in advancing the privacy profession. In addition, FIP certified individuals must have proven track record of comprehensive knowledge of privacy laws, privacy program management and essential data protection practices as well as considerable working experience. Globally less than 300 privacy professionals are certified FIPs.

Tobias' practice covers the provision of detailed privacy advice including advising on the development of new products and services, review and negotiation of contracts, drafting of policies and review of campaigns. Before joining us in 2016, he was senior legal counsel at Microsoft and Nokia with responsibility for privacy and data protection. Tobias is also experienced in teaching and supervision of law students, having taught over 20 different courses at the University of Helsinki on European law, international trade law, international data protection law and international commercial arbitration. Originally qualified in Germany, Tobias defended his PhD in information law at University of Helsinki.
