The competition has attracted more than 1000 entries from 165 countries, including the UAE, Canada, Australia, USA, UK, Ethiopia, Greece, and the Philippines.

Bird & Bird will offer free legal advice to the winner and runners-up of the competition as part of its support of the initiative, helping newcomers to the industry develop their ideas.

Anders Nilsson, Managing Partner of Bird & Bird in the UAE commented: “We’re excited to be part of this initiative which supports innovation and technology within the aviation industry - one of our key sectors in the region. The awards are a global forum for entrepreneurs, manufacturers and investors in the unmanned aerial vehicles industry, and we feel very much at home in this innovative environment. We are very pleased to support the development of drone technology and the good that drones can achieve."
