Bird & Bird advises Arm on the acquisition of IoT company Stream Technologies.

International law firm Bird & Bird has advised Arm on the acquisition of IoT company Stream Technologies.

Stream Technologies is a Glasgow based Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity platform with a presence in Miami, Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Manchester. The company is at the forefront of the development of innovative technology focused on eSIM, cellular, satellite and low power wide area network connectivity. The transaction forms the latest in Arm's M&A strategy in relation to IoT companies. Last year, Arm acquired Swedish company Mistbase AB, an early stage tech company focused on developing NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT) solutions and eSIM provider Simulity Labs Limited, both of which were advised on by the International Corporate team at Bird & Bird.

Founded in 1990, and currently the world's leading semiconductor IP company, Arm designs microprocessors, physical intellectual property and related software. The company also sells development tools to deliver the intelligence in applications ranging from sensors to servers, including smartphones, tablets, enterprise infrastructure and IoT. Arm currently holds a 12th place on Forbes' list of the world's most innovative companies and its technology reaches 80% of the global population.

Neil Blundell, Corporate partner at Bird & Bird, led the team and was assisted by Corporate associates Andrew Collins, Sarforaz Hoque, Leah Cairney and Katherine Knight. The Bird & Bird team also included partners Mathew Oliver (Corporate Tax), Graeme Maguire (Tech & Comms), solicitor Cathal Flynn (Tech & Comms), legal director Fleur Benns (Employment) and associates William Bryson (Commercial), and Carolina Munoz (Privacy & Data Protection).

Neil comments: "We are delighted to continue to support Arm with its growth in the IoT space. Our involvement in Arm's recent series of transactions clearly demonstrates Bird & Bird's position in the market and the firm's M&A capabilities in the tech space".
