Bird & Bird advises MedtecLIVE on trade fair acquisition

International law firm Bird & Bird has advised MedtecLIVE GmbH, a subsidiary of NürnbergMesse, on the acquisition of the trade fair T4M - Technology for Medical Devices from Messe Stuttgart. The transaction took place as part of an asset deal; the parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

MedtecLIVE GmbH will combine T4M with its own existing event MedtecLIVE to create a trade fair for the entire value chain of medical technology. The combined trade fair will be held annually, alternating between Messe Stuttgart and the Nürnberg Exhibition Centre.

With this purchase, MedtecLIVE is responding to the urgent need of the industry for a single, central European Spring event in southern Germany that integrates both the strong medical technology regions of Stuttgart/Tuttlingen and Nürnberg/Erlangen. Partners, associations, and supporters of both existing trade fairs have already pledged their support for the new trade fair format.

The following lawyers advised NürnbergMesse on the deal: Counsel Michael Gaßner (lead) and partner Stefan Münch (both Corporate/M&A, Munich), partner Dr. Henriette Picot, (IT/Data Protection, Munich), partner Dr. Jörg Witting, and associate Maren Steiert (both EU- & Competition, Düsseldorf).
