Bird & Bird expands its Energy & Utilities team with the appointment of partner Grzegorz Pizoń in Warsaw

International law firm Bird & Bird today expands its Energy & Utilities team with the appointment of partner Grzegorz Pizoń and his team in Warsaw.

The appointment of Grzegorz is an integral part of Bird & Bird’s strategic plan to strengthen the firm’s Energy & Utilities sector group in Warsaw and to provide both local and international clients with expert advice on energy transactions in Poland.

With a decade of professional experience as an energy and utilities lawyer, Grzegorz joins the firm from law firm SSW Pragmatic Solutions where he was a counsel. He specialises in regulatory matters and has built a portfolio of clients across the energy and utilities sector, including in renewable, conventional and industrial, as well as the steel, cement, glass and paper industries. He has also advised on climate change and sustainability matters, including the Green Deal and corporate power purchase agreements. Before joining SSW Pragmatic Solutions, Greg worked for Ernst & Young in Poland and in Brussels.

Joining with Grzegorz from SSW Pragmatic Solutions are two associates Joanna Perzyna and Ɓukasz Bondaruk.

Slawomir Szepietowski, managing partner in Bird & Bird’s Warsaw office comments: “I am very much looking forward to working with Grzegorz. His regulatory expertise and experience carrying out high value energy transactions in Poland will hugely benefit our team in Warsaw. Welcome Grzegorz!”

Matt Bonass, co-head of the international Energy & Utilities sector group at Bird & Bird says: “Poland remains a very attractive country for energy transactions, both for local and international players. With Grzegorz and his team on board, we’ll be able to provide advice to energy clients both locally in Poland and across the Bird & Bird network".

Grzegorz adds: “I’m thrilled to be joining such a diverse, international law firm. At Bird & Bird, I’ll be able to provide clients with a one-stop shop service, focusing primarily on opportunities and business challenges stemming from technologically driven transformation towards a sustainable and green economy. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with the rest of my colleagues in the Energy & Utilities Team in Warsaw and across the firm".
