Bird & Bird has provided legal support to Central European growth capital provider, AMC Capital IV (AMC), advised by Accession Capital Partners (ACP), on the acquisition of data-driven agribusiness P&P Spearhead UK Holdings Ltd (Spearhead) from Paine Schwartz Partners.
Spearhead is one of the leading vertically integrated food and agriculture businesses operating across the EU and the UK. The company manages 83,000 hectares of farmland across Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and the UK, where the company started more than 50 years ago. It is a clear European leader in regenerative agriculture, harnessing valuable data it collects through its application of the state-of-the-art technologies for precision farming. Spearhead specializes in valued-added specialty crops catering to the most demanding food processing businesses in Europe.
Existing client, Accession Capital Partners, formerly known as Mezzanine Management, is currently investing from AMC Capital IV, whose total investments exceed €770m. This is an exciting opportunity for ACP to support Spearhead’s growth opportunities as a data-driven business with best-in-class professionals setting industry standards.
The Bird & Bird team advised on all aspects of the acquisition and was led by Corporate partners, Clive Hopewell (UK) and Pawel Bajno (Warsaw), together with senior associate, George Mason (Corporate), associates Michal Blaszkiewicz (Corporate) and Amy Farrer (Corporate) alongside Real Estate partners Peter Nicholson and Marcin Świerzewski and associate Charlie White (Real Estate).
Przemysław Głębocki, Co-Managing Partner at ACP says: “Thank you Clive and all the team at Bird & Bird! We would not have got to this point without you. As always, it’s been a pleasure to work with the Bird & Bird team.”
Clive Hopewell, Corporate partner at Bird & Bird comments: “We are proud to have assisted ACP once again on this new acquisition and chapter in Spearhead’s growth. The acquisition provides an exciting opportunity for further success and is a prime example of Bird & Bird’s strong capabilities in the M&A and agricultural space.”
