Bird & Bird appoints Floor van Heijst as Finance partner in the Netherlands

International law firm Bird & Bird today appoints Floor van Heijst as a partner in its Finance & Financial Regulation practice in Amsterdam.

Floor has over 13 years’ experience advising clients on leveraged and acquisition finance matters, specialising in investment grade facilities, fund finance, and asset-based financings. She previously worked at Freshfields and NautaDutilh and has strong connections within the industry, including with some of the leading banks, fund lending, and private equity communities in the Netherlands.

Floor’s arrival further bolsters the firm’s strategic growth of its international Finance & Financial Regulation team in the Netherlands and Europe following the recent arrival of finance experts Federico Del Monte and Corrado Fiscale in Bird & Bird’s Milan office.

Evelyn Tjon-En-Fa and Marc van Wijngaarden, co-heads of Bird & Bird in the Netherlands say:  “Floor’s arrival is a key part of our strategic ambitions to expand our Finance & Financial Regulation offering in the Netherlands. Floor is a natural relationship-builder, with a strong reputation as a leading finance lawyer in the Dutch market, as well as close connections in the London market. We look forward to the expertise and opportunities she will bring to Bird & Bird in the Netherlands and across the firm’s international network.”

Joss Hargrave, Michael Jünemann and Giuseppe D'Agostino, co-heads of the International Finance & Financial Regulation practice, comment: “We are delighted to welcome Floor to the team, as we continue to grow our Finance & Financial Regulation practice in Europe. The Dutch financing market is growing fast and Floor’s arrival is key as we look to unlock opportunities in this space. Floor’s extensive expertise, combined with her strong commercial and entrepreneurial skills, further enhances our full-service finance practice offering to clients and ensures our firm is in a strong position as we embark on this period of significant growth.”

Floor adds, “I’m thrilled to be joining Bird & Bird for this next chapter of my career and during an exciting time of growth for the firm.  Bird & Bird is renowned for its innovative and collaborative spirit, making it the perfect platform for developing my practice. I am looking forward to working with my international colleagues and contributing to the firm’s ambitious growth plans in the Dutch financing market and beyond.”
