International law firm Bird & Bird has strengthened its London Tax team with the appointment of partner Jesse Dalton. His start date is 21 October.
With over 16 years’ experience at major international law firms in London (and prior overseas experience at PWC), Jesse advises on a broad range of corporate tax matters, with a particular focus on M&A and finance transactions, intra-group reorganisations and structuring of commercial agreements. He has particular expertise in advising on high-value international tax matters (often in collaboration with transfer pricing specialists and tax advisors in other jurisdictions), and in handling complex contractual drafting.
Jesse has a sector focus on technology, regularly advising on IP-related tax issues and the taxation of novel technological products and services, including cryptoassets, as well as Media, Entertainment and Sport.
Jesse is dual qualified in the UK and New Zealand. He is also a chartered accountant, having practised as a corporate tax adviser at PWC for three years.
Zoe Feller, head of the London Tax group at Bird & Bird comments, "In a time where cross-border tax issues are becoming increasingly prevalent for our clients, Jesse’s rich understanding of international tax matters will be key to the firm’s cross-border transactional and advisory offering. He arrives at a pivotal moment of ambitious growth across our practices and sectors, and I am thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Phil Sherrell, head of the London office at Bird & Bird, says, “Jesse will be a significant addition to our London team, with his unique experience of being both an accountant and dual qualified lawyer making him a valuable asset to our clients. I’m delighted to see our Tax practice continuing to grow, following recent complementary growth in our transactional and advisory teams as part of the London growth strategy.”
Jesse Dalton adds, "Bird & Bird’s leading reputation and expertise in technology and intellectual property, as well as its international network and collegiate culture, will be an ideal platform for my work. I very much look forward to working closely with Zoe and the wider Bird & Bird team, contributing to their ongoing delivery of high-calibre advice to clients.”
