International law firm Bird & Bird today announces the firmwide roll out of revolutionary AI platform Legora, formally Leya, after a successful proof-of-concept trial.
During the six-month trial period, 675 individuals from nearly every Bird & Bird office engaged extensively with the tool for document review, legal research, workflow optimisation, and collaboration across teams. The Bird & Bird and Legora team also collaborated closely on upskilling, engagement, and adoption across the firm’s practices and sectors.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with particular success in Corporate, Employment, and IP, underscoring the tool’s capacity to not only streamline legal processes but also help transform the client experience.
Bird & Bird’s partnership with Legora has enabled the firm to collaborate closely to create and customise the platform to specific client needs. The integration of Legora into various legal workflows will be reflected in a range of pricing solutions based on client objectives.
Christian Bartsch, CEO of Bird & Bird said: "We rigorously tested Legora against a series of KPIs for selected use cases. Our trial has been very successful, and we can now offer our clients an expanded augmented service across a range of client needs, supplementing our existing suite of legal-tech solutions. Examples of use cases for Legora include decreased turnaround times on certain legal tasks and leveraging Legora to implement a client’s playbook across multiple matters. This technology complements our legal expertise, allowing our specialised professionals to concentrate on high-value outputs where their human insights can significantly help our clients achieve their commercial objectives.”
The collaboration with Legora strongly aligns with Bird & Bird’s strategic focus to expand its established expertise in providing technology enabled solutions for clients. It has also enhanced the firm’s already strong culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Bird & Bird’s CEO Christian Bartsch, adds: “At Bird & Bird, our focus has always been on solving real-world client problems, rather than adopting technology indiscriminately. Rather than using technology and AI ‘for the sake of it’, we’re committed to balancing the potential cost and efficiency benefits against challenges like accuracy, compliance, and upskilling our teams. Our collaboration with Legora firmly positions us as a leading law firm in the GenAI space and is aligned with our vision to continue to be the leading international firm guiding organisations through a world being shaped by technology, innovation and regulation.”
Hélder Santos, Head of Legal Tech and Innovation at Bird & Bird, commented: “The value add that we witnessed from the six-month trial exceeded all expectations. With the addition of Legora to our workflows, we can devise new ways to ensure our clients are supported with accurate, practical and comprehensive support. As we continue to work with Legora to enhance the platform’s functionality, we look forward to not only innovating the way we work but also driving the transformation of legal services delivery.”
Max Junestrand, CEO at Legora, adds: “Legora’s highly collaborative relationship with Bird & Bird is not only a testament to the success of the platform, but also to how we’ve driven engagement and adoption in the firm. The team and I look forward to continuing to refine and extend the tool to suit their needs, as well as the needs of their clients. Ensuring a high level of security, accuracy and support the firm in the responsible use of AI remains our top priorities as we continue to empower exceptional lawyers to achieve more.”
