Dorie Wong

I am a partner in our China Intellectual Property Group, based in our Beijing office. My practice covers all aspects of intellectual property registration, maintenance, enforcement, litigation and commercialisation in the Greater China region.

I am a solicitor qualified in Hong Kong and have more than 15 years of experience working in China. I work extensively with international clients for their business in China and Chinese clients for going overseas.

I have extensive experience in managing IP portfolios for clients from start-ups to multinational companies, particularly brand selection, strategies for registration, rebranding, enforcement matters, Internet takedowns and domain name enforcement, trademark licensing and transactions, and brand protection/anti-counterfeiting. I advise clients across a range of sectors including retail & consumer, hotel & hospitality, financial and media, entertainment & sports.

As part of my IP practice, I lead Bird & Bird's Beijing IP Agency and work closely with our association PRC firm Lawjay in all sorts of IP litigation matters.

• Obtaining well-known trademark status for a renowned global hotel in China and managing their trademark portfolios and dispute matters.
• Managing the trademark portfolios of a renowned US beverage company and other IP issues arising from their business expansion into China.
• Advising an internationally renowned Swedish home appliances company in IP enforcement activities and customs recordals and seizures matters.
• Managing the trademark portfolios of a leading financial institution in the APAC region.
• Advising an estate for a famous novel on merchandising and licensing arrangements in China involving a wide range of consumer products.
• Assisting with setting up e-commerce platforms and advising on distributorship arrangement in China for a famous Australian skincare products company.
