Grace Zhao

I am a senior associate in our Corporate Group in Shanghai, where I specialise in corporate and commercial matters with a focus on the retail and consumer, education and hospitality sectors.

I am experienced in general corporate matters and PRC-related cross-border transactions. I have advised a number of multinational clients on their expansion into China by foreign direct investment and merger and acquisitions. I also assist clients in regulatory and compliance matters.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked as an in-house lawyer with a leading international luxury hotel chain in China, and prior to that with the corporate teams of international law firms. Clients often benefit from my in-house background and in-depth understanding of the rapidly evolving commercial environment in consumer facing businesses in China.
