Pia Ek

I am a partner and co-head of our Tech & Comms Group as well as Commercial Group, based in our Helsinki office. I have over 20 years of experience in cross-border digital transformation projects, outsourcing, cloud services, ICT and IP-driven transactions as well as in IoT, licensing and e-commerce assignments.

I am a digitalisation allrounder having worked with clients in a vast number of industry sectors, ranging from finance, to retail, to aviation. My specialty lies in large scale transformation projects.

I regularly assist clients in mergers and acquisitions, especially in transactions where there are specific technological needs or in which the carve-out of business processes or technologies play an important role.

In addition to my technology practice, my field of expertise includes sports, media and entertainment law. I have been lucky to have been able to work with both national and international sports federations, leagues, sponsors, broadcasters and event organisers. Throughout my career, I have also advised on regulatory issues as well as a broad range of commercial contracts in the gambling sector.

My clients have always valued my solution-focused and pragmatic approach and my ability to understand the business drivers in each case.

I am a frequent lecturer on topics related to TMT, sports law and commercial contracts, both commercially and academically. I am also the chairperson for the Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports (FINCIS) as well as a long-standing member of the Finnish Sports Arbitration Board.
