Teemu Lahdelma

I am a senior associate in our Commercial group in Helsinki, where I work with commercial contracts and technology related legal matters.

I have experience in drafting, commenting, and negotiating on different kinds of commercial contracts, with a specific focus on IT contracts. I have also advised Finnish and international clients on M&A related assignments and worked with intellectual property and technology related matters.

I bring a business-oriented and pragmatic approach to my work. I always focus on the key issues of the case and endeavour to find win-win solutions, so that my clients receive genuine value-added legal advice.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked as an in-house counsel in Finland's largest financial services group concentrating specifically on drafting and negotiating different kinds of IT contracts. I have also worked at another notable law firm in Finland and at a global expert organisation providing audit, tax, and advisory services.

With my past experience as an in-house counsel, I have a good understanding of clients' perspectives of and requirements for various projects requiring legal advice. In addition, with experience working in the financial sector, I understand the requirements laid down by applicable regulation for various outsourcing projects.

I graduated with a Master of Laws from the University of Helsinki in 2015. Additionally, I earned a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Aalto University in 2018, with majors in Finance (Bachelor's degree) and Business Law (Master's degree). I also obtained a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Hanken School of Economics in 2024, majoring in Intellectual Property Rights.

I work fluently in both Finnish and English.
